Christian Wade’s hat trick helped London Wasps get their Amlin Challenge Cup campaign off to a bonus point start.
Aviva Premiership Rugby’s top try scorer got his first try with just two minutes on the clock, making the most of the extra man provided by Richard Haughton coming into the line.
And although Felix Le Bouhris replied with a try for Bordeaux, Wasps replied within 60 seconds through their prolific winger, and didn’t look back after that.
Wade’s hat trick was completed inside 25 minutes, and although the hosts tried their utmost to get back into the match Wasps had a bonus point to their name before the half-hour thanks to Dom Waldouck’s try.
Wasps held out while Ross Filipo was in the sin bin but conceded a try to Thierry Brana nine minutes after the break. However this was as good as it got for Bordeaux, who conceded tries from Tom Varndell and Nic Berry and a pair of penalties from Nicky Robinson.
