Full back Hugo Southwell raised the roof at Adams Park with a hat trick of tries that helped London Wasps maintain top spot in their Amlin Challenge Cup pool.
The Scottish international was named man of the match for his performance. But his team had to come back from a shock early deficit when Rovigo centre Roberto Pedrazzi made the most of a favourable bounce to feed wing Ricardo Pavan for the first try of the day.
Wasps struck back with Southwell's first, a score which finished off a sweeping move involving backs and forwards. The full back had his second on the half-hour, and with two conversions and a penalty from Nicky Robinson the hosts – who were running the ball at every opportunity – already had a healthy 10-point lead.
The score remained the same until half-time, despite the best efforts of scrum-half Nic Berry, but it took just six second half minutes for Wasps to increase their lead, again through Southwell, who this time was on hand to finish off Dom Waldouck's break.
From having created his side's only score, Pedrazzi then turned sinner with a yellow card just before the hour, a misdemeanour immediately punished by the home pack, who drove Zac Taulafo over for the bonus point try.
Richard Haughton finished things off, and Wasps will go into December's back-to-back meetings with Bayonne well placed to push on in Pool 3.
