All of their points came in that early spell, with an Andy Williams try in the second minute starting a whirlwind spell which eventually saw a further try from Tom Voyce and four Matt Perry penalties.
All Newcastle had to show by that stage was a penalty from veteran loan fly-half Earl Va’a and a Tom May drop-goal, but their spirited second half comeback did at least see the north-easterners earn a bonus point.
Their only try of the day came through former Northampton fullback Joe Shaw, with Va’a adding a further three penalties, but it was Bath who claimed a win which looks like making the Falcons’ winter a long and hard one as they remain near the bottom of the table.
