Welsh welcome Charity Partner Help for Heroes to Harlequins clash

London Welsh is delighted to welcome official Charity Partner Help for Heroes to Sunday’s Aviva Premiership fixture with Harlequins at the Kassam Stadium (KO 2:30pm).

Help for Heroes will be bucket collecting at the match to help our heroes through the power of sport by raising £3,500 to buy a rugby wheelchair. You can also donate £5 by texting RUGBY to 70900. Please do give generously.
The Help for Heroes Mobile Retail Unit will be in the London Welsh Fanzone, which opens at 12:30pm, and will be selling H4H merchandise. Watch out also for Help for Heroes mascot Hero Bear, who is sure to be getting up to mischief with our own Dewi the Dragon.
An example of the outstanding work done by Help for Heroes is illustrated by A Veteran’s Story by Ben Willcox. Ben joined the Army at 17 and, during 11 years serving with the Royal Signals, was posted to combat zones all over the world.
However, at the age of 28 Ben was medically discharged from the army suffering from chronic arthritis. He also required extensive surgery to repair the discs in his lower back that had been completely worn away.
That’s when Help for Heroes stepped in, offering Ben a place on a course to become a fully qualified Personal Trainer. Ben’s story is an inspiration.
Ben recently attended a training day at London Welsh and you can read Ben’s full story inside Sunday’s match day programme. Ben’s story can be viewed below:
