Saracens name team for Sale clash

Joel Conlon

Saracens have named their team to face Sale Sharks in Saturday’s round 16 Aviva Premiership clash at Allianz Park, kick-off 14h45.

Saracens have included former England U20 flanker Joel Conlon in the starting line-up in the place of Schalk Burger who misses the game with a rib injury. Conlon, who will make his first Saracens start in the Aviva Premiership, lines up in back row at openside flanker alongside Kelly Brown (blindside flanker) and Jackson Wray (No8).

At lock, Michael Rhodes continues alongside Jim Hamilton whilst in the front row, Titi Lamositele starts at loosehead prop alongside Schalk Brits (hooker) and Juan Figallo (tighthead).

In the backs, Richard Wigglesworth continues to partner Alex Lozowski in the halves with Brad Barritt skippering the side from centre alongside Marcelo Bosch. Nathan Earle comes into the side to start on the left wing alongside Chris Ashton (right wing) and Duncan Taylor (full-back).

Director of rugby, Mark McCall: “Sale are in good form and have put together an impressive series of results and performances. They are an extremely well coached side and have quality players throughout their squad.

“Over the last two or three months our group of players have been magnificent, showing all the qualities we cherish at the club. Although the last few weeks haven’t gone as we would have liked, the efforts of the players mean that we find ourselves in a home Anglo Welsh semi-final, a home Champions Cup quarter final and in the play-off places in the Premiership.

“Saturday’s game represents another opportunity to show all our fighting qualities and as always we are confident the players will give everything in order to get the performance we are after.”
