Sale Sharks team news for match against Bristol Rugby

Sale Sharks

Steve Diamond has named his Sale Sharks to take on Bristol Rugby on Sunday afternoon at Ashton Gate (kick off 3pm) in the Aviva Premiership.

There are two changes to the side who lost out to RC Toulon last weekend. Johnny Leota returns from his two game suspension to take his place in the midfield, partnering Will Addison in the centres. Halani Aulika also returns to the starting XV, replacing prop Brian Mujati. If he comes off the bench, Mujati will make his 100th Aviva Premiership appearance.

Sale Sharks: 15. Mike Haley, 14. Byron McGuigan, 13. Will Addison, 12. Johnny Leota, 11. Paolo Odogwu, 10. Sam James, 9. Peter Stringer, 1. Ross Harrison, 2. Neil Briggs, 3. Halani Aulika, 4. Bryn Evans, 5. Andrei Ostrikov, 6. Cameron Neild, 7. Magnus Lund, 8. Josh Beaumont (c)

Replacements: 16. Eifion Lewis-Roberts, 17. Brian Mujati, 18. Jonathan Mills, 19. David Seymour, 20. Tom Curry, 21. Mike Phillips, 22. Dan Mugford, 23. Mark Jennings

Speaking about the game, Diamond said: “I think Bristol offer a different challenge. As the side that came up, they’re still finding their feet to a certain extent but they’re getting better every week so it will be a big challenge for us and we’ll need to be at the top of our game to beat them away.

“We’ve got to look after ourselves and do what we do well without worrying too much about the opposition. We need to get our detail right, get our defence and set piece right and then we stand a chance of winning.”

He added: “We have to get our detail right and go down there in the right frame of mind. We do that everytime home and away, it’s just there is a big home advantage in rugby but we’ve got to overcome that on Sunday if we want to be challenging for the top four and top six.”
