Referee appointments: JP Doyle set to take charge of The Clash

Experienced referee JP Doyle will take charge of The Clash on Saturday as Bath Rugby and Leicester Tigers meet in a highly-anticipated encounter at Twickenham.

Doyle, a veteran of 128 Aviva Premiership Rugby matches, will have the best seat in the house as two of the league’s biggest rivals go heads to head, while Simon McConnell and Andrew P Jackson will assist.

Bath will be looking to bounce back from their 53-10 defeat to defending champions Saracens two weeks ago, but they will arrive in London on a high after a progressing through to the last four of the European Challenge Cup against Brive last weekend.

Leicester, meanwhile, are on a roll after their 36-31 win at rivals Northampton Saints which moved them above Bath into the top four.

In North London, Ian Tempest will preside over the London derby between Saracens and Harlequins at Wembley Stadium.

Sarries enter in fine form following their convincing win against Glasgow Warriors to reach the last four of the European Champions Cup, but Quins racked up more than 50 points against Newcastle Falcons last time out.

Tim Wigglesworth and Roy Maybank will assist Tempest on Saturday afternoon.

Craig Maxwell-Keys will be in charge on Sunday as Wasps try to put their Champions Cup exit behind them against Northampton.

Wasps have a five-point lead at the top of the table, while Northampton sit seventh – two points off a top-six place.

Elsewhere this weekend, Tom Foley will be at Sandy Park as Exeter Chiefs host Bristol Rugby on Saturday, while Matthew Carley takes charge of Sale Sharks’ home clash with Worcester Warriors on Friday night.

Also on Friday, Luke Pearce will referee Newcastle Falcons’ match with Gloucester Rugby, with Anthony Woodthorpe and Gareth Copsey assisting.
