Wasps are pleased to confirm contract extensions for a number of key academy players.
Academy scrum half Tom Bliss, who has already impressed this season when representing the senior squad in both the Aviva Premiership and European Rugby Champions Cup, has extended his contract with Wasps Academy and will play, on loan, with Ealing Trailfinders next season to increase game-time.
Wasps Academy wing Tom Howe, who also represented the senior side in the Aviva Premiership last season, joins Bliss in re-committing to Wasps and will play with Jersey on loan next season, again to accrue match experience.
England under 20s fullback Piers O’Conor and prop Alex Lundberg, already under contract with Wasps Academy, who have represented the senior squad in the LV=Cup and have been training with the senior squad this season, will play their rugby on loan at Bedford in the 2015/16 season.
Academy tighthead prop Will Stuart, and Tom West, who earned his first England U20 cap this season against Italy, have also re-signed with Wasps Academy on longer-term deals.
Wasps are also pleased to confirm that three players from Wasps Under 18 squad have been promoted to the Senior Academy. England U18s centre Conor Dolan joins from Wellington College, England Under 18s full back Owain James will arrive from Harrow and Wasps Academy Under 18 captain and openside, Jack Willis, signs up from Henley College.
Wasps Academy Manager Matt Davies said: "We are delighted to confirm the extension of key players within the Wasps Academy. Piers O’Conor, Tom Howe and Tom West have represented us brilliantly within the England U20 programme this year. Will Stuart has huge potential as a young tighthead, whilst Tom Bliss has been a great addition to the club this year since joining from Loughborough University.
"In regard the three U18 players stepping up to the Senior Academy group, they have had different paths as they arrive at this point. Conor and Owain have been excellent throughout the U18 League, and the England U18 programmes, whilst Jack Willis has captained the Academy U18 team in outstanding fashion, and all three are thoroughly deserving of their opportunity."
