Northampton Saints Teimana Harrison wins Green Flag Award

David Flatman announces his Forward of the Month for January and catches up with Gloucester Rugby as part of Green Flag’s At the Breakdown series.

Green Flag, official breakdown cover supplier of Aviva Premiership Rugby, has announced Northampton Saints' Teimana Harrison, as the January Forward of the Month.

Each month in the 2015-16 season, Flats judges the league's best forwards, with the top performer being awarded the prize of Green Flag's Forward of the Month.

In January, Flats had a tough decision to make as he had to select one winner from four players in fine form for their clubs; Saracens' Billy and Mako Vunipola, Bath Rugby’s Leroy Houston, and Northampton Saints' Teimana Harrison.

On each of the shortlisted players, Flats gave his reasons for their nomination:

Billy and Mako Vunipola, Saracens: "The brothers are playing out of their respective skins at the moment. Frankly we could give one of the Vunipola brothers Green Flag's Forward of The Month, every month – they are fantastic players."

Leroy Houston, Bath Rugby: "Bath Rugby, has for me, one of the best No. 8 knocking around in  Aviva Premiership Rugby at the moment and in Europe. Leroy is aggressive, relentless – in Bath Rubgy terms he's an absolute inspiration."

Tiemana Harrison, Northampton Saints: "This guy is Northampton Saints' archetypal squad player. But guess what, Calum Clark got injured, Tiemana Harrison came in and he's been absolutely outstanding."

Following analysis of each player's individual and team performances over the month of January, Flats awarded the Green Flag Forward of the Month for January to Northampton Saints' Teimana Harrison.

On his selection, David Flatman said: "There were some amazing individual performances to begin the year with four players in great from at the breakdown for their clubs! But, there has to be a winner and this month I am awarding the prize to Northampton Saints 'Teimana Harrison.

"Along with Mikey Haywood he's been one of the most influential players at Northampton Saints, growing up some big wins and some massive performances from him. Congratulations Teimana!"

Tomorrow, Flats chats to Gloucester Rugby’s Jacob Rowan and Paul Doran Jones about life at the club, before catching up with the ex-All Black's Jeremy Thrush on Friday. Videos of the interviews can be found at www.youtube.com/premiershiprugby.

At the Breakdown is a monthly series from Aviva Premiership Rugby official breakdown cover supplier Green Flag. All episodes of At The Breakdown are available on www.youtube.com/premiershiprugby.
