Mark Wilson wins Green Flag Forward of the Month for February

FalconsFwdoftheMonth

Green Flag, official breakdown cover supplier of Premiership Rugby, has announced Newcastle Falcons’ Mark Wilson, as the February Forward of the Month.

Each month in the 2015-16 season, Flats judges the league's best Forwards, with the top performer being awarded Green Flag's Forward of the Month.

In February, Flats had a tough decision to make as he had to select one winner from three players in fine form for their clubs; Saracens' Petrus du Plessis, Newcastle Falcons' Nili Latu and Mark Wilson.

On each of the shortlisted players, Flats gave his reasons for their nomination:

Petrus du Plessis, Saracens: "He has quietly become one of the very best tightheads in the League, a real asset for Saracens."

Nili Latu, Newcastle Falcons: "There is more to his game these days than bashing people – he has been on inspirational form."

Mark Wilson, Newcastle Falcons: "Andy Goode aside, Mark has  perhaps become their most important player, a key part of their recent resurgence."

Following analysis of each player's individual and team performances over the month of February, Flats awarded the Green Flag Forward of the Month for February to Newcastle Falcon's Mark Wilson.

On his selection, David Flatman said: "Looks like [Newcastle Falcons] are going to stay safe in the Prem – a lot of that is down to [Wilson]. He has gone from the back row to the second row, back to the back row. Lots of guys do that, but few do it as well as Wilson. Congratulations Mark Wilson, you're our Green Flag Forward of the Month for February".

Flats also chats to Bath Rugby’s Henry Thomas and Matt Garvey about life at the club, before catching up with Leroy Houston on Friday. Videos of the interviews can be found at www.youtube.com/premiershiprugby.
