Leicester Tigers’ Harry Thacker named Green Flag’s Forward of the Month

This week Green Flag – official breakdown cover supplier of Premiership Rugby – releases the latest episode of its monthly At The Breakdown series. Watch as pundit David Flatman goes under the bonnet at Northampton Saints to get the inside scoop from the players before announcing Leicester Tigers’ Harry Thacker as Green Flag’s Forward of the Month.

Ahead of announcing the winning rugby star, Flats dishes out several honorable mentions for each of the shortlisted players:

Teimana Harrison, Northampton Saints: "I also want to talk about Teimana Harrison, a player we gave this award to a few months ago. He is training just over there on my right and he's looking pretty sharp. He was very ;good then, he's brilliant now and he has become one of the more influential players for Northampton Saints and in the Aviva Premiership."

Thomas Young, Wasps: "Thomas Young, Wasps flanker, burst onto the scene this year with Haskell away playing for England. That guy is going to be a first choice player playing at Wasps before long."

Schalk Brits, Saracens: "Schalk Brits is still doing it. The break he made outside Will Collier against Harlequins at Twickenham made me feel really bad for Collier because he's a very good defender for a big bloke, but no one can defend that and that offloading side from Brits just shouldn't be possible. He's been doing things that shouldn't be possible for years in this league.

Harry Thacker, Leicester Tigers: "Someone who has taken the Schalk Brits way of rugby, the way of hooking to the next level, in the last couple of months since Thomas Young got injured at Leicester Tigers is Harry Thacker. The ball is never dead with Harry Thacker.

"The pace he is putting onto the ball, the tries he is scoring. The try he scored just over my shoulder here at Franklin's Gardens against Saints a few weeks ago. The guy has shown an almost outrageous breath of ability.

"His throwing has been really good, his scrum performance is getting better and better and it will continue to improve with time – but really it's his play on the ball."

On his announcement of Leicester Tigers’ Harry Thacker as winner, David Flatman said: "The guy is an absolute joke in terms of talent – and I say that in a good way. So congratulations, well done Harry!"
