HITZ go off road!

It wasn’t a regular day for some of the members of Exeter Chiefs HITZ programme recently, when they were taken to the West Country Land Rover Experience centre near Honiton.

As one of the partners to Premiership Rugby's HITZ programme, Land Rover wanted to take some of the programmes youngsters on a day of off-road driving, outdoor activities and team building exercises. As an added bonus, Land Rover also invited ex-England and Bath Rugby player David Flatman.

The youngsters enjoyed taking on the Devon countryside in some of Land Rover's latest vehicles, all at the hands of expert drivers from the Land Rover Experience centre. Flatman was on hand to share in the activities with the youngsters and learn more about their backgrounds and the HITZ programme. His involvement was also a great chance for them to see what rugby has offered him and how they stand to benefit from the sport that has such a vital role to play in the HITZ scheme.

Premiership Rugby’s award winning HITZ programme tackles some of the greatest challenges facing young people today – unemployment, crime and disillusionment.  Delivered nationally by Premiership Rugby and funded by national partners Barclays, Comic Relief, Land Rover and Wooden Spoon, HITZ uses rugby to increase young people’s resilience, self-reliance and confidence. It gives them the skills to get back into education, vocational training, apprenticeships and employment.  HITZ gives those with no hope new hope.
