Harlequins open the day’s trading at the London Stock Exchange

Harlequins attended the London Stock Exchange this morning (Wednesday 14th September) to open the day’s trading and launch the third annual London Stock Exchange Charity mixed touch tournament.

As part of the Club’s on-going 150th Anniversary celebrations, Mat Luamanu was joined by Harlequins Commercial Director Ned Wills and Commercial Operations Director Jim Eyre to open the markets for over 2,700 companies listed on the Stock Exchange.

The market opening was combined with the announcement that Harlequins will partner with the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) to stage the third annual mixed touch rugby tournament, on Thursday 20th July 2017, at the Honourable Artillery Company (HAC) grounds.

Bringing together 24 touch teams from businesses around the City of London, all benefits from the day will go to the work of The Harlequins Foundation’s METTLE and Switch initiatives, and the chosen charities of the LSEG Foundation – UNICEF and The Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust.

The Harlequins Foundation delivers a range of programmes that use rugby and the Harlequins spirit to inspire, educate and equip disadvantaged young people. METTLE, Harlequins’ mental health campaign aims to raise awareness of mental health and build mental resilience in young people, while Switch supports Harlequins women and girls’ strategy to increase accessibility and participation.

Commenting on the morning, Harlequins Commercial Director, Ned Wills said: “It was a privilege for the Club to open the markets this morning. As the London club, we are very excited to be partnering with the London Stock Exchange Group for their charity mixed touch rugby tournament in July.

“Harlequins has traditionally had very strong links within the City of London and in our 150th Anniversary year, it’s important that we reaffirm our partnership with our city and community to positively impact the lives of young people, whilst having some fun on the rugby field in the process.”
