Garvey to lead Bath Rugby in first pre-season game

MGarvey-Bath-1208

Matt Garvey will lead out a Bath Rugby side that sees three players make their debut in the Blue, Black and White on Saturday against Yorkshire Carnegie, kick-off 18.00.

Harry Davies, Elliot Stooke and Michael van Vuuren all arrived in the West Country over the summer, and will make their bow in Bath’s first pre-season game.

Hooker Van Vuuren is joined in the front row by loosehead Beno Obano and tighthead Kane Palma-Newport, with Stooke being joined in the second row by Garvey. The returning David Sisi starts on the openside flank, Tom Ellis on the blindside and Academy number eight Zach Mercer completing the pack.

A familiar Bath United pairing of Will Homer and Rory Jennings will be pulling the strings in the half-backs, as Davies makes his first start on the left wing and Jeff Williams starts opposite him. Dan Bowden and Max Clark combine in the midfield, with Tom Homer at fullback.

The game will be played at Ilkley RUFC, Stacks Field, Denton Road, Ilkley, LS29 0BZ. Prior to the Yorkshire Carnegie game is Ilkley RUFC v Blackburn RUFC, which kicks-off at 13.30. Gates open at 12.30.
