Citizen Try of the Week

When the likes of Kyle Eastmond and Semesa Rokoduguni are blowing holes in defences, it’s not often Henry Thomas is called upon to conjure up a moment of magic.

But the Bath Rugby prop made himself a sure-fire contender for Aviva Premiership Rugby’s Citizen Try of the Week with his solo effort against London Irish.

Not only did the tight-head show off his power to palm off outstretched bodies but showed a neat turn of pace to evade Shane Geraghty and surge over the line.

Elsewhere, Nick Scott barely had to break stride in notching for London Welsh after Seb Jewell delivered a sumptuous cross-field kick into his path.

That Scott score ultimately did not affect the scoreline as Leicester Tigers raced away to victory – but Newcastle Falcon Sinoti Sinoti scored full points for both substance and style with his winning try over Gloucester Rugby.

The Falcons rattled through the phases – narrowly avoiding touch out on the left – before Juan Pablo Socino blew the gate open after finding space up the centre.

Dean Richards’ men then worked the ball all the way across to the right with Sinoti at hand to apply the simplest of finishes.

Jack Nowell had not scored an Aviva Premiership Rugby try for more than a year yet his try-double at Sandy Park on the weekend included a touchdown that typified what the explosive wing is all about.

The 21-year-old sidestepped past Ashley Johnson before cutting a clear path to the try-line by shoving Rob Miller out of the way.

Last but not least, James Wilson also broke a lean spell in the competition after Northampton Saints caught Saracens flat-footed, with Luther Burrell unleashing the wing in acres of space after a trademark burst from midfield.

Now it is the turn of fans up and down the country to decide upon the winner. Click here to watch the tries and vote for your favourite. Each month our friends at Citizen will award one of their prestigious watches – worth almost £500 –  to someone who votes so there’s no excuse to get clicking!!
