Wasps have today announced they has already sold over 21,000 tickets for ‘The Stinger’ – the Club’s end of season battle against Leicester Tigers on Saturday 9th May.

Wasps have today announced they has already sold over 21,000 tickets for ‘The Stinger’ – the Club’s end of season battle against Leicester Tigers on Saturday 9th May. It is a potentially massive game for both sides with vital spots in the Aviva Premiership table resting on the result.

Demand for tickets and hospitality to the new Midland’s derby has been huge since the game first went on sale just 10 days ago. Over 2,000 guests are already set to enjoy hospitality at the Ricoh Arena with only a handful of places still available. If ticket sales continue at their current pace, Wasps may even break the Aviva Premiership home ground attendance record of 28,254 set at the Club’s first game at the Ricoh Arena in December last year.

The Stinger promises to provide a jam-packed day of fun for all the family to enjoy including live music and a children’s activity area, while a ‘Fan Zone’ in the stadium’s Jaguar Exhibition Hall will hold numerous bars and food outlets. Prior to kick off the winner of ‘Wasps Unplugged’ – a competition run by Wasps to discover local music talent – will provide the warm-up to this crucial game of rugby.

As part of the day Wasps also plan to distribute 15,000 Ashley Johnson wigs for fans to masquerade as the Ricoh Arena favourite. The wigs form part of a charity campaign to raise money for Wasps Academy’s charity partner, the Brain Tumour Charity. Supporters will be able to take a wig and make a donation to this worthy cause.

Nick Eastwood, Wasps Deputy Chairman, commented:

“Wasps versus Tigers is one of the fiercest rivalries in the Aviva Premiership and always creates a very special match day atmosphere. Tickets are selling fast so I would urge Wasps supporters to book early to avoid disappointment. Let’s turn the Ricoh black and gold on 9th May.”

Wasps are offering a 20% discount on tickets to the Exeter Chiefs game on Sunday 26th April when fans buy a ticket for Leicester Tigers. Ticket for both matches are priced from £15 and can
be purchased at the Ricoh Arena, online by visiting the Wasps website www.wasps.co.uk or by calling the Wasps ticket line on 0844 847 1867 or via Ticketmaster website www.ticketmaster.co.uk/wasps
