Wasps and Newcastle Falcons shared an incredible 14 tries at the Ricoh Arena with the visitors eventually coming out on top 53-41 in the Anglo Welsh Cup.
Two tries in two first-half minutes gave Wasps the advantage in a frantic opening period as first Jack Willis and debutant Aaron O’Sullivan both went over.
And on 19 minutes, the home side added a third try when a break from Brendan Macken, saw him offload to Owain James and his pace saw him sneak over to make the score 19-3.
The Falcons hit back though with a fine solo try from winger Adam Radwan and a catch and drive saw hooker Santiago Socino reduced the deficit to 19-15.
Replacement Simon Uzokwe’s quick side-step led to Falcons’ third with a late Rob Miller penalty sending the teams in level at 22-22.

An early second-half try from Guy Armitage saw the home side back in front but Gary Graham went through unchallenged to level the scores once again.
James added his second try with Miller converting but Radwan’s pace saw him again break the Wasps defensive line to go under the posts with Willis converting to equalise.
It was the turn of Newcastle to edge back in front as replacement Joel Hodgson went through to score, with the conversion making it 41-34.

Newcastle took control of the game as more missed tackles deep in Wasps territory saw Andrew Davidson add a seventh try with Hodgson again successful with his kick.
The home side gave themselves a lifeline at 48-41 thanks to Armitage’s second when the ball was offloaded to him from a Miller break.
An eighth try of the game for the Falcons saw Uzokwe get his second after the visitors stole the ball on the Wasps line to score and give the Falcons the stunning win.
