Harlequins kept themselves in the hunt for a place in the Anglo-Welsh Cup semi-finals with a 35-7 bonus-point win over Scarlets to make it 15 points from 15 in the competition so far.
That leaves them needing just a point from next week’s trip to Northampton Saints to top their group and make the last four after Exeter Chiefs lost at Worcester Warriors on Saturday
In a hard-fought game at the Stoop, they had to be patient to find a way through, but eventually Henry Cheeseman powered his way over for the first try, converted by James Lang.
That was soon followed by a second from the lively scrum-half Dave Lewis after a maul, with Lang’s conversion making it 14-0 at the break.
A third came through the forwards as Archie White finished off a pick and go. Lang was once again on target with his conversion, and then he added the fourth try to wrap up the bonus point just on the hour.
The scoring was not done just yet however, with the Scarlets fighting back and getting a try of their own through Bryce Morgan which was converted by Jack Maynard.
However, Harlequins were not going to let Scarlets have the final word, and Ross Chisholm ran in number five as he made the most of a penalty advantage. Lang took his personal tally for the day to 15 with the conversion.
