Final day Gallagher Premiership Rugby drama to play out on BT Sport
A gripping Gallagher Premiership Rugby regular season comes to a rousing crescendo on Saturday, with two unmissable final day games set for airtime.
With tension high and plenty still up for grabs, including top spot, semi-final places and Heineken Champions Cup qualification, all six games will kick off at the same time on Saturday.
The choice awaiting viewers in front of the box is between leaders Exeter Chiefs’ clash with top-four chasing Northampton Saints and Harlequins’ trip to age-old rivals Wasps.
Four points ahead of second-place Saracens heading into the final weekend, Chiefs will be looking to cement top spot and build momentum ahead of the semi-finals.
Meanwhile, after a tightly-fought campaign Chris Boyd’s expansive Saints side face a straight shoot-out with Harlequins for the final last four spot.
The task in front of them is daunting – Chiefs are notoriously strong on home turf – but in Dan Biggar, Tom Collins and Rory Hutchinson, Boyd possesses a back-line bang in form and capable of punching holes in even the tightest of defences. And you can watch the drama unfold on BT Sport 1 from 3.15pm ahead of a 4pm kick-off.
Fireworks are also expected on BT Sport 3 and as the Ricoh Arena plays host to a hungry Harlequins side looking to pip Biggar and co to that coveted fourth spot.
Victorious against Leicester Tigers last time out to keep their hopes alive, the Stoop-based outfit will once again rely on the experience of the likes of Chris Robshaw and Danny Care to guide them through, with another stalwart, James Horwill, potentially making his final bow in a Quins jersey.
The drama will also be ramped up in the other non-televised games this weekend, as Saracens continue their hunt for an impressive double after their Champions Cup final win over Leinster in Newcastle and a host of sides battle it out for European qualification.
Four teams will slug it out for the last Champions Cup berth. Bath are the current incumbents, but Sale Sharks, Wasps and Bristol Bears all harbour realistic expectations of making it into the showpiece competition.
