Jerome Garces to oversee Saracens’ shot at glory

Jerome Garces to oversee Saracens’ shot at glory

This Saturday Saracens look to achieve European domination once again as they lock horns with Leinster in the Heineken Champions Cup Final.

Mark McCall’s men were the kings of the continent two seasons running, tasting glory in both 2015-16 and 2016-17, and this weekend they chance their arm at winning a third Heineken Champions Cup in the space of four years when they take on Leinster at St James’ Park in Newcastle.

Jerome Garces will be the man in the middle, the Frenchman taking charge of his first-ever Champions Cup Final.

Garces has plenty of big-match experience under his belt, having previously taken charge of three European Challenge Cup finals, as well as a raft of World Cup and Six Nations fixtures. The 45-year-old also oversaw Saracens’ 36-16 victory over Munster in the semi-finals.

He will be supported by a team of French officials, with Romain Poite and Pascal Gauzere named as assistant referees. Meanwhile, Phillippe Bonhoure is in as TMO.
