BT Sport and Channel 4 to show Saracens’ date with destiny
The cameras will be in place as Saracens bid to wrangle back the Heineken Champions Cup, with Leinster standing in their way of the trophy.
Mark McCall’s side are looking for their third triumph in four years at Europe’s top table, with what promises to be a cracking final to be screened out on both BT Sport and Channel 4. Coverage of Saturday’s European spectacular begins at 4pm on both channels.
The reigning Gallagher Premiership Rugby Champions set up the showpiece event at Newcastle’s St James’ Park by toppling Irish province Munster with a convincing 32-16 semi-final victory in the Ricoh Arena last month.
But formidable opposition await in the Final, with Leinster the reigning European Champions as well as the most successful side in the competition’s history, counting four title successes in total to their name.
Saracens are no pushovers, however, and have rare pedigree of their own to boast of when it comes to the Champions Cup. Back-to-back victories in 2015-16 and 2016-17 made them the fifth Gallagher Premiership Rugby side to win the tournament, after Bath Rugby, Northampton Saints, Leicester Tigers and Wasps.
The Londoners warmed up for the clash with 38-7 win over Gallagher Premiership Rugby leaders Exeter Chiefs on Saturday as they look to do the double this year, with domestic semi-finals now also firmly on the horizon.
