Premiership Rugby 7s live on BT Sport with highlights on Channel 5

The entirety of the Premiership Rugby 7s at Franklin’s Gardens will be shown live on BT Sport this weekend.

Live coverage begins on BT Sport 2 at 5.15pm on Friday with newly promoted Bristol Bears looking to overcome Chris Ashton’s new club Sale Sharks in the opening clash at 5.30pm.

Hosts Northampton Saints take on Wasps in the final game of the first evening with Friday’s matches determining the seedings for Saturday – shown live on BT Sport 3 from 2.15pm.

Friday’s pool stages are expected to be full of titanic head-to-heads coming thick and fast over a blockbuster four-hour showpiece in the East Midlands.

Two former Champions, Saracens and Newcastle, face off at 6.15pm in a repeat of the 2010 Final, in which Saracens triumphed, though the Falcons avenged that defeat a year later.

This is followed immediately by the home side’s contest against last year’s Plate winners Gloucester Rugby, both sides knowing a victory is key ahead of facing holders Wasps.

Indeed, the last six Finals have seen representation from either Wasps or the Cherry & Whites, with last year’s winning captain Dan Robson facing his former club at 8.08pm.

Local rivalry between Exeter Chiefs and Bath Rugby at 8.53pm is also bound to bring fireworks as the West Country sides lock horns.

Friday’s group-stage matches, live on BT Sport 2 from 5.15pm, lead nicely onto Saturday’s knockout fixtures, where the sides contest for the coveted Premiership Rugby 7s trophy.

And if you miss the weekend’s entertainment, fear not, highlights will be shown on Monday on Channel 5 at 7.00pm – don’t go anywhere.
