Tom West and Will Stuart awarded senior contracts at Wasps

Wasps are delighted to confirm that prop forwards Will Stuart and Tom West have been awarded senior contracts.

The academy products have both made their Premiership debuts during the course of the current season, while Stuart also appeared from the bench and claimed a close-range try in the closing stages of the European Champions Cup home win over La Rochelle.

They have also impressed in the A League and Anglo-Welsh Cup during the course of their three years in Wasps’ senior academy.

Stuart, a 21-year-old tight head, has also appeared in the National Leagues and Championship while dual-registered with Blackheath, Birmingham Moseley and Nottingham.

After initially appearing for Henley Hawks, 22-year-old West has also spent time on a dual-registered basis with Nottingham.

Both players are products of Radley College, who went on to represent England at under 20 level where they joined clubmate Jack Willis as part of the 2016 World Cup winning squad.

Director of Rugby Dai Young said:

“We’ve made no secret of how important it is for us to produce quality players from our academy.

“Given the nature of the salary cap, home-grown talent is essential to every club’s success, and now we are firmly established in the Midlands this is a key objective for us.

“It is therefore really pleasing to see Will and Tom graduate through our age-group teams and the senior academy to the senior squad.

“They have both trained regularly with the first team for much of the last year and have done well when opportunities have arisen.

“We are looking forward to working with them again next year and to seeing them fulfil their potential.”

Season Memberships for 2018/19 are still available.
