Romain Poite takes charge of Aviva Premiership Rugby Champions Exeter Chiefs in Champions Cup.

There’s an early festive treat for rugby fans this December as the two European competitions return for another thrilling round of pool matches this weekend.

Reigning Aviva Premiership Rugby Champions Exeter Chiefs welcome Leinster to Sandy Park with France’s Poite set to take charge alongside assistants Thomas Charabas and Vincent Blasco Baqué.

Both sides are unbeaten after the opening two rounds while Glasgow Warriors and Montpellier meet in Pool 3 with England’s Matthew Carley calling the shots.

Two-time European Champions Saracens are also unbeaten in the Champions Cup this season and face French side Clermont Auvergne in a re-run of last year’s final.

Nigel Owens will have the whistle for the clash at Allianz Park with Ben Whitehouse and Wayne Davies assisting him in a huge Pool 5 clash.

In the same pool, Northampton Saints welcome Ospreys to Franklin’s Gardens with Frenchman Alexandre Ruiz the man in the middle alongside Thomas Charabas and Laurent Cardona.

Elsewhere, Andrew Brace takes charge of Bath Rugby’s meeting with RC Toulon and Jérome Garcès will be looking after Munster’s match against Leicester Tigers at Thomond Park.

Englishman Luke Pearce will officiate Castres versus Racing 92 in the same pool while Pascal Gauzère will be in the middle for Harlequins v Ulster and John Lacey referees La Rochelle and Wasps.

In the Challenge Cup, JP Doyle has the Pool 2 match between Toulouse and Lyon while Sale Sharks welcome Cardiff Blues to the AJ Bell with Pierre Brousset in the middle.

Frank Murphy will take charge of Worcester Warriors clash with Oyonnax while Ian Davies will be making the decisions at Kingston Park as Newcastle Falcons face Bordeaux-Begles.

London Irish travel north of the border to face Edinburgh with Ireland’s Sean Gallagher at the helm, while Mike Adamson is handed the whistle for Gloucester’s trip to Zebre.

And Englishman Craig Maxwell-Keys has the final game of the weekend when Connacht Rugby travel to Brive with Chris Ridley and Wayne Falla as his assistants.
