Pascal Gauzère to officiate Gloucester v Newcastle Challenge Cup semi-final

French referee Pascal Gauzère will take charge of the all-Aviva Premiership Rugby affair between Gloucester Rugby and Newcastle Falcons this weekend.

The pair meet in the semi-finals of the European Challenge Cup on Friday (kick-off 7.45pm) with a place against either Cardiff Blues or Pau in the Final at stake.

Gauzère will be part of a four-man team of Frenchmen at Kingsholm, with assistants Jérome Garcès and Alexandre Ruiz on the sidelines.

The TMO at Friday’s semi-final will be Eric Briquet-Campin as the two teams face off for a spot in the Final in Bilbao in May.

Gloucester had Gauzère’s compatriot Romain Poite in charge for their quarter-final while the Falcons were under the instruction of Ireland’s John Lacey in their last eight victory over Brive.

The Cherry & Whites were 29-7 winners over the Falcons in Aviva Premiership Rugby Round 9 in November before suffering a 21-20 reverse at home in Round 17 at the beginning of March.

Meanwhile, Cardiff Blues host Pau in the second semi-final on Saturday with Lacey in charge alongside assistants Andrew Brace and Frank Murphy with Simon McDowell in the TMO seat.
