Premiership Rugby’s Move Like A Pro is already proving a success at Saracens as they near the halfway mark, but one participant won’t be raising a glass to celebrate – with the programme helping him achieve his goal of cutting back on the booze.
Move Like A Pro is a scheme delivered by Premiership Rugby clubs and supported by the Movember Foundation to inspire a legacy of long-term lifestyle change across the rugby fan community.
Designed for men aged between 30 and 55 who aren’t currently particularly active, Move Like A Pro offers both classroom and activity based health sessions, including physical activity, diet changes, social connectedness and mental wellbeing.
Before joining the programme, Saracens fan Jamie Holland would attempt to alleviate the stress of running his own business with an alcoholic drink at the end of a tough week.
But Move Like A Pro has helped Jamie realise that the answer isn’t always at the bottom of a glass.

“I am a Saracens follower and found out about Move Like A Pro through the club and thought it would be a good opportunity as I was getting a bit stressed at work,” the 49-year-old said.
“I saw it as a way to knock the alcohol on the head a bit because it was getting a bit on top of me. I was working longer hours as I own my own business and quite a few people work for me so I was getting stressed and found myself further and further away from the gym and going home and having a drink as I was stressed.
“So I thought now would be a good time to get back into it and kickstart me again.
“So far Move Like A Pro has been excellent. I have lost about three kilos, cut the alcohol down and I have been back in the gym.
“I have never been too bothered about the weight really but it was getting back fit and killing the alcohol that I was interested in.”
Move Like A Pro is a partnership between Premiership Rugby and the Movember Foundation to inspire a legacy of long-term lifestyle change across the rugby fan community. Move Like A Pro is directly linked to Movember’s vision of having an everlasting impact on the face of men’s health. A world where men live happier, healthier and longer lives, starts with simply moving.
Jamie is one of 37 currently on the Move Like A Pro programme hosted by the Saracens Sport Foundation, and he feels that the team aspect of it all certainly helps as they all look to improve their health
He added: “It’s also great to be with a good bunch of guys and also the professional advice that you get from Saracens is great.
“It gets the brain thinking about the right things and being in a team environment it helps you stick with it and makes you think that you will stick with it as you don’t want to let anyone down.”
