JP Doyle the referee as 2017 Aviva Premiership Rugby finalists Wasps and Exeter Chiefs renew rivalry

JP Doyle is the man in the middle for a rematch of the 2017 Aviva Premiership Rugby Final as a thrilling Round 15 comes to a conclusion on Sunday with Wasps entertaining Exeter Chiefs.

Wasps, after a stuttering start, are flying high, with their 44-22 win at Harlequins leaving them third in the table – behind only Exeter and Saracens.

However, history is against them heading into this contest, with Exeter having won six of their last seven encounters with Dai Young’s men, while they have not lost three in a row since 2015 – something they’re at risk of on Sunday after defeats to Newcastle Falcons and Worcester Warriors.

Doyle, who will take charge of his 146th Premiership Rugby game, is supported by Anthony Woodthorpe and Karl Dickson on the line, with Sean Davey the TMO.

There are two games to kick things off with on Friday night, with Matthew Carley taking charge of Newcastle Falcons against Bath Rugby and Luke Pearce with the whistle for Sale Sharks versus Saracens.

Sale have moved into the top half of the table while Saracens have won four straight league games, making this one hard to call.

Veteran Wayne Barnes is set to referee his 194th Premiership Rugby game as he heads to Welford Road on Saturday for Leicester Tigers versus Harlequins.

The Tigers have struggled for form of late and have won just one of their last six league games while Harlequins suffered a home defeat to Wasps on Sunday.

Barnes is supported by Luke Pearce and Hamish Smales, with David Grashoff keeping an eagle eye on things in the TMO booth.

Elsewhere, Ian Tempest has got the nod at Franklin’s Gardens where Northampton Saints host London Irish and Tom Foley heads to Sixways for Worcester Warriors versus Gloucester Rugby.
