Golding pledges future to the Falcons

Newcastle Falcons are delighted to announce that powerful prop Jon Golding has extended his contract at Kingston Park.

Golding, 28 joined the Falcons in the summer of 2006 having previously enjoyed a stint at fellow premiership outfit Northampton Saints, whom he joined from the Leicester Tigers academy.

The Morpeth-born loose head had recently been linked with a move away from the north-east, but Golding is delighted to remain on Tyneside.

“I’m delighted to have signed a new contract at the Falcons,” Golding told the club website.

“As a local lad this means a lot and hopefully we can now push on and get a result on Sunday at Leeds,” he added.

Chairman Dave Thompson said: “After lengthy discussions we are very pleased to keep Jon at the club.”

Golding stared in 20 appearances for the northeasterners last campaign, earning himself a call-up to the England squad for their Australasian tour in the summer.

“Jon is an outstanding player and this is another sign of intent by the club,” said head coach Alan Tait.

“He’s really settled in the north-east and he wants to be part of what we’re trying to achieve at this club,” he added.
