Players are motivated, says Woodward

"There isn’t a single player who hasn’t got something to prove especially the older players," Woodward said on ZurichPremiership.com.

"I think there’s only four players that started in that final in Sydney. It’s a young side and I’m please for Richard Hill – first time he’s captained the team and I think it will be a great day.

"Sport is about taking your opportunities. It’s a very good side and I think we’ve done the right thing here with a team of players with something to prove – there’ll be no problems about motivation for our team tomorrow."

Woodward also described why there would be a few English supporting Aussies in the crowd, with the England team flying out their two RWC liaison officers and their wives as a thank-you for their efforts Down Under.

"At the end of the trip, the players all gave them a signed shirt but I decided to go one step further so we flew them over with their wives at our cost to spend a week with us a Pennyhill Park. So they’re here this week at Pennyhill Park and will see the game at the weekend and winter in London at Christmas.

"They were obviously completely gobsmacked when we told them and we had a dinner at Lords' on Tuesday night. So for them its been a trip of a lifetime but its just for us to say thank you as they did an awesome job behind the scenes. The World Cup was won by a whole team of people and these two guys were a very big part of it.

Woodward added: "And yes I’ll ask them to wear white. After all we’re playing a New Zealand side and they’re Australians!"
