Bath appeal lengthy Wood ban

A Gallagher Premiership Rugby ball

The Bath scrum-half was handed a six week ban by the disciplinary committee on Tuesday for stamping on the head of Tigers flanker Lewis Moody during the two teams Zurich Premiership match at Welford Road.

Wood was issued a red card by referee Roy Maybank in the 24th minute of the game and was later ordered to appear in front of the disciplinary committee.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge and despite written support from Moody and Tigers coach Dean Richards, the panel found Wood guilty of the offence.

The appeal will be heard in London on Thursday.
