Zurich, sponsor of the England team, have pledged £10 for every point scored by Clive Woodward's men at the World Cup – and the money raised will help finance future youth development projects and for a memorial to Duncombe at the Stoop.
The fund was set up in memory of the NEC Harlequins and England scrum-half, who tragically died in February 2003 at the age of just 21.
Zurich's promise might have spurred on England on Sunday when they added £1,110 to their former team-mate's fund by beating Uruguay 111-13.
England have so far scored a total of 255 points against their pool stage opponents, with fly-half Jonny Wilkinson directly responsible for a £510 contribution.
"My thoughts are often with Nick – he was a great player," said England coach Clive Woodward.
"I hope that he is looking down and enjoying what we are doing at the moment."
