Newcastle Falcons name side for London Wasps

A Gallagher Premiership Rugby ball

Newcastle Falcons Director of Rugby Rob Andrew today announced his team to play London Wasps and is delighted to confirm that Hall Charlton is fit to play on Sunday.

He said: "Hall was 'Cog-tested' on Tuesday and the results came back clear which is great news considering how bad his injury looked on Saturday."

'Cogsport' is the programme used to test the players ability to play after being concussed during a match or training session. At the start of the season all the players are tested and their results submitted into a bank in Australia and, if a player is injured he is tested and the results are compared to the results on file. We've even had players tested during half-time!"

Rob added: "For example Geoff Parling was concussed during the Development Team match against Leeds Tykes Development team a couple of weeks ago and he failed his test last week and therefore, couldn't play last weekend.

On other injury news he said: "Marius Hurter is again ruled out this weekend with his ankle ligament injury, but its just a matter of time before he's back, but both Ian Peel and Micky Ward should be fit to play at the weekend. They're not 100% fit today but should be okay by then. If not the Falcons have registered one of the Academy players, Jonny Williams who is currently on loan with Tynedale."

On the match ahead against Wasps he said: "The team is looking forward to playing again at High Wycombe. Wasps have started the season well, but, like most teams, they're without key players who are in Australia on Rugby World Cup duty. We lost against Wasps at High Wycombe last season (13-12) just after we'd turned the corner in March 2003, but our boys certainly have no hang ups going down to High Wycombe: They certainly have nothing to fear from the team and we've played well there in the past."
