Tykes enjoying entertainers’ tags

A Gallagher Premiership Rugby ball

Leeds Tykes are fast becoming known as the entertainers of the Zurich Premiership after racking up 19 tries in their opening six games.  That has seen the Tykes rise to sixth place in the Zurich Premiership have collected four try scoring bonus points.

It took the Tykes until the penultimate game of last season to collect their first five point win, against this week’s opposition, Gloucester, however they are now the leading try scorers in the Premiership, two tries clear of Bath.  The Tykes go to Kingsholm this Saturday however having never won there and having been on the end of two big scores in the previous two encounters.

England winger Dan Scarbrough, who has already scored four tries this season, is one of the main beneficiaries of the new style, he commented, “It is really exciting to play in this team. We’ve got 19 tries in just six games and we’re the top scorers in the Zurich Premiership. I’m really enjoying my rugby at the moment, more so than in a long time. We’re playing some great stuff and it’s brilliant for the supporters.”

"The tries though are the result of hard work in defence and controlling the ball when we have possession and our forwards have been outstanding in the past couple of games are securing possession for us so that we can score tries.

“Gloucester will be really tough this weekend though.  They justifiably finished top of the Zurich Premiership last year and they are a formidable team at Kingsholm.  We have had two bad experiences there and we will need to perform to our very best to get anything out of the game,” added Scarbrough.
