Gloucester name side for Falcons clash

A Gallagher Premiership Rugby ball

Prop forward Andy Deacon is still absent with a calf injury and Adrian Olver will fill in and make his second appearance for the 'Cherry and Whites' after impressing last week during the 30-7 win over Sarries.

Last week's man of the match and double-try scorer Jon Goodridge continues at full-back, and Alex Page and Simon Amor start again at halfback.

Coaches Nigel Melville and Dean Ryan also continue with Alex Brown and Mark Cornwell at lock, supported by Jake Boer, Andy Hazell and Junior Paramore in the back-row.

Gloucester won both games against the Falcons last season with the result being decided by last-minute kicks on each occasion.

"We've had some very close games against Rob Andrew's side in recent years," said Melville."You always knew that players like Johnny Wilkinson would score between 15 and 20 points and therefore, to win you have to secure a good total.

"Not many teams win up in the North East. The Falcons have a good record, but we have a job to do."

Melville told the club's website that Gloucester will be hoping for a good performance to set them up for next Saturday's visit of the Leicester Tigers.

"Of course, we go to Kingston Park wanting to win, just like any other Premiership side. But an away win will put us in a good position for when Dean Richards' team come to Kingsholm," said the coach.

The club will make one late fitness test on Sunday morning and will travel with one additional replacement in Mike Guess (prop).
