Yates appeared in front of a three-man RFU disciplinary committee on Tuesday after he was cited by an independent citing officer following the game against Saints.
Blowers was left concussed following the incident, which occurred late in the game, and was taken to hospital for observation. The former All Black was later ruled out of his side's clash with Bath the following week.
Yates' ban will begin on Wednesday, September 24 and he will ironically miss out on Sale's game against Bath – his former club – on Friday night. The former England forward will be available for selection from Wednesday, October 1.
Yates, who spent some time playing for the Hurricanes in the Super 12 and the Wellington Lions in the NPC, left England for New Zealand in 1999 after an ear-biting incident when he was still playing for Bath.
Controversy, however, never seems to be too far from the tough front ranker, who won two caps for England in Argentina in 1997, having also earned a brief suspension for punching whilst in NZ.
