Lyle, who recently joined the club from Bath, will be available for two matches before leaving for Australia to join the American squad and is eager to compete in the opening Zurich Premiership game.

"The USA management, while supportive of me, is not to happy with me," Lyle told The Leicester Mercury, after signing a one-year contract.

"I think it's an individual choice. The unions could decide if they wanted you not to and then you'd have to make a decision if you wanted to get selected. The USA is very accommodating to its players and allows us to participate as fully as we can."

Richards also revealed that he may be looking for another hooker after losing James Buckland, who could be out for as long as four months with a broken leg.

Apart from Buckland, Richards has no injury worries and said that discarded England players – Graham Rowntree, Austin Healey and Ollie Smith – would play a part on Saturday.

London Irish, meanwhile, are in the enviable position of having a close to full strength squad to choose from, with no players called up for international duty, and they will be looking to notch up a fourth consecutive victory over the Tigers.

Coach Gary Gold, however, will be without the services of centres Nick Greenstock and Rob Hoadley due to injury. The absence of Greenstock means 19-year old Nils Mordt will make his Premiership debut at inside centre, while Geoff Appleford starts on the outside.
