TMO comes into play

A Gallagher Premiership Rugby ball

A TMO, regularly used at International level, was trialled for the first time at a club game at the Zurich Challenge match between London Wasps and Stade Français in August and will provide another element of enjoyment to viewers watching the weekly Zurich Premiership matches, which are broadcast by Sky Sports.  Speaking at today’s launch of the new Zurich Premiership season, Martin Turner, Executive Producer of rugby union at Sky Sports, explained:

“We’ve worked hard alongside the RFU and Premier Rugby and it will be great to see the TMO coming into play on our screens this season.  The Zurich Premiership promises to be even more competitive than usual with clubs desperate to secure a top three finish as well as avoiding the dreaded relegation spot.  We’re looking forward to working with the RFU officials over the season to make the TMO an integral part of the televised matches.”
