Wasps name side to face Saracens

A Gallagher Premiership Rugby ball

The starting backline remains the same from the side that started two weeks ago against the Newcastle Falcons but there are changes to the front row.

Will Green is still suffering from the calf strain he sustained during the Newcastle Falcons game and his place will be taken by Andy Kershaw. However, Kershaw will start at No.1 while Craig Dowd will move to No.3. The other change is Phil Greening starting ahead of Trevor Leota.

Kershaw's selection is significant as the prop was on loan to Saracens for the first half of the season and is chomping at the bit to get stuck into his former front row team-mates.

Kershaw said: "I was there for just over two months and had a really good time. Saracens have not had the greatest run lately, but when you have players such as Tim Horan, Thomas Castaignède, Christian Califano, Richard Hill and Andy Goode, don't take them too lightly – those players can do some awesome damage. They can be a pretty devastating team when they want to be.

"However, I feel, considering what we have here at London Wasps, we will have a bit too much for them. I'm really looking forward to playing against them, probably more than any other game this year."

On the bench Ayoola Erinle will take the place of Kenny Logan. Logan is resting a slight back injury he picked up during last weekend's internationals.

There is also a place for 20-year-old wing Mike Roberts. Roberts has been involved with the Wasps Under-21s side, but did play six first team games last year.

Wasps have won their last six games against Saracens, a run that stretches back to November 1999 and will be looking to complete the 'double' over them this season.

London Wasps: 15 Mark Van Gisbergen, 14 Josh Lewsey, 13 Fraser Waters, 12 Stuart Abbott, 11 John Rudd, 10 Alex King, 9 Rob Howley, 8 Lawrence Dallaglio (captain), 7 Paul Volley, 6 Joe Worsley, 5 Richard Birkett, 4 Simon Shaw, 3 Craig Dowd, 2 Phil Greening, 1 Andy Kershaw.Replacements: 16 Martyn Wood, 17 Ayoola Erinle, 18 Mike Roberts, 19 Mark Lock, 20 Peter Scrivener, 21 Alistair McKenzie, 22 Trevor Leota.
