Bristol players turn down bonus to help club

The payments were earned for scoring four tries in the victory over Harlequins and collecting the full five Zurich Premiership points.

"It says everything to me about the commitment and loyalty the players are showing to the club," Pearce commented on www.bristolshoguns.co.uk.

"I hope it sends out a strong message to both rugby supporters and the rest of the people in Bristol that there remains a great spirit in the team."

Shoguns head coach Peter Thorburn added: "Malcolm's generosity was for the right reasons as it showed a huge amount of commitment to the team and result. The senior players decided that with the current financial situation at the club it would be right to return the bonus."

Bristol are currently seventh in the Zurich Premiership table.
