Crocked Catt withdraws from Bath squad

A Gallagher Premiership Rugby ball

The 31-year-old has struggled with an ongoing hamstring problem and had been hoping to make this weekend's game as the club battle against possible relegation.

"Mike Catt has tweaked his hamstring,' said coach Mike Foley. "It is settling down, but he will not be involved this weekend."

With Catt out, coaches Mike Foley and Brian Smith have included former Australia Under-21 fly-half Chris Malone in the squad, whilst new signing Samoan international centre/wing Elvis Seveal'i is also included.

Simon Danielli returns having recovered from the hamstring problem which forced him to miss the Gloucester game, and with both Gareth Cooper and Gavin Thomas retained by Wales, Ross Blake and Gareth Delve are named.

For Delve, it will be his first involvement in a senior squad since undergoing knee surgery last summer.

Last time the two sides met back in September, Bath Rugby suffered a 28-3 defeat, and Foley insists that his side are determined not to allow a repeat performance in what is going to be a crucial game.

"We were poor against Saracens at the beginning of the season and we will definitely be looking to make amends on Saturday," said Foley.

"Guys like Tim Horan, Andy Goode and Kyran Bracken are intelligent and experienced players who control the shape of Saracens' game extremely well. I think they've got some exciting finishers and they've obviously got pace in their back three.

"We expect them to be very physical from the outset, and certainly controlling possession will be crucial for us," he added.
