The 28-year-old Deane, who has made six appearances for the Sharks this season, scoring one try in the process, has also signed an additional one-year contract with Quins, which will keep him at the Stoop for the 2003/04 season
Quins Chief Executive Mark Evans told Britain's PA: "We are delighted to be able to bring a player of Mel's quality into the squad at this stage of the season, and look forward to him contributing to the team both on and off the field."
Deane, who has also played 21 matches for Richmond, toured New Zealand with the Irish squad in June of last year.
