According to the New Zealand Press Association, the North Harbour player will take up his new contract on August 1, but he is hoping to secure a five-month contract with New Zealand-based league club, the Warriors, before going to England to join up with former All Black coach Wayne Smith.
The 27-year-old Robinson, who played in only three Tests for the All Blacks, will make his debut for the Warriors against the Sharks at the North Harbour Stadium on Saturday.
The scrum-half had been involved in some trial matches for the league club while attempting to negotiate a deal with some European rugby union clubs, which, eventually turned out to be Northampton.
Robinson's move abroad comes after he was dropped from the Blues squad at the end of 2002 when Auckland's Steve Devine – who had originally missed out on Blues selection – was controversially picked for New Zealand's end-of-season tour.
