Archer misses Leeds clash

A Gallagher Premiership Rugby ball

The Shoguns will be hoping to extend their four-and-half-month unbeaten home record in the Zurich Premiership against the Yorkshire outfit, their last Premiership defeat at the Memorial Stadium coming back in mid-September, Northampton Saints winning by 36-28 on that day.

Archer misses out after going off injured during the second half of the Shoguns' final Heineken Cup pool game against Leinster.

The inspirational second rower is, however, expected to return for the Shoguns' next game, against Leicester Tigers on February 8.

Meanwhile, Jamie Williams returns at fullback after impressing in a West Country reserve team game against Gloucester on Monday night, while Scotland forward Ross Beattie continues in the No.8 jersey for the seventh consecutive game after his early season injury.

The 6ft 5" forward joined up with his Shoguns team-mates after two days with the Scotland training squad this week.

Looking forward to Sunday's clash with the Tykes, Beattie said: "They've been defending and working together really well. However, each week we're getting better as a unit and, hopefully, this weekend, we can influence the game in both defence and attack.

"Diego Albanese is a fantastic player and returns kicks really well. Their No.8, Isaac Feaunati is also dangerous and a big ball-carrier."
