Bristol to switch venue for Bath derby?

A Gallagher Premiership Rugby ball

The Bristol Evening Post reports that the May 4 date could be moved from their 11,000 capacity Memorial Stadium home to the city's other main venue in a bid to get up to 20,000 people through the turnstiles.

Bristol currently lease the Memorial Stadium from Bristol Rovers Football Club, with soccer rivals Bristol City based at the Ashton Gate venue, the stadium which last year hosted England A v Wales A, as well as previously staging matches in the 1999 Rugby World Cup.

Speculation has been around for a while that Bristol might take their rugby outfit elsewhere in the city or surrounding area, with talk of a joint stadium with Bath one of the schemes mentioned in dispatches.

Bristol are in action this Sunday when they travel to Montferrand in the Heineken Cup pool stages.
