Harlequins took advantage of some mild Italian conditions to continue putting pressure on Bayonne at the top of Pool 1 in the Amlin Challenge Cup.
Ugo Monye ran out for his 150th appearance in a strong Harlequins line-up that could still make the quarter finals. And once Maurie Fa’asavalu scored after 12 minutes the London outfit was on its way to its fourth win from the five games played so far.
Rory Clegg added two penalties, with Cavalieri full back Rima Wakarua answering with two of his own. But with the hosts down to 14 men thanks to Gabriel Bocca’s yellow card Harlequins eased further clear with a Danny Care try and five more points from Clegg.
Two tries in nine second half minutes from Sam Smith put the result beyond doubt, Clegg converting both, and although Wouter Moore crossed for Cavalieri Quins kept on going, their efforts rewarded by Tom Casson and Karl Dickson, who went over for the sixth try on the stroke of full time.
