There were no tries this time for Quins after their rout at Rotherham last week, and in a tight game the scores were only 3-3 at half-time after a penalty apiece for the respective Irish fly-halves – Paul Burke for Harlequins and Barry Everitt for the Exiles.
The second half was not significantly better on the scoring front, but two more penalties for Burke took his side into the lead by six points.
Tongan debutant Josh Tuamalolo then dropped a goal to give them some daylight, Burke then striking a fourth penalty to emphasise that lead
Young London Irish three-quarter Ed Thrower got the only try of the game with eight minutes left to play, converted by Everitt, but with time running out the visitors were unable to obtain more than just the bonus point for their exertions.
