Only two late penalties by Mark van Gisbergen salvaged a bonus point for the Wasps.
Wasps' fly-half James Brooks opened the scoring with a dropped goal after 12 minutes but after Jonny O'Connor had been sent to the sin bin, Malone goaled his first penalty to make the score 3-3 at half-time.
Then at steady intervals during the half Malone slotted penalties as his forwards dominated the home pack.
In the last ten minutes Mark van Gisbergen goaled two penalty goals.
Bath now move up into fourth place on the table, just above the Saints.
The only downside for the visitors was the suspected broken arm which forced prop David Barnes out of the game in the second half.
Wasps coach Warren Gatland was less happy, meanwhile, with Danny Grewcock after the Bath lock tangled with his former England team-mate Lawrence Dallaglio.
Grewcock appeared to stamp on Dallaglio in an eighth-minute confrontation.
"We spoke to the referee at half-time, and he said it was a stamping but not a malicious stamping – we need more consistency than that," said Gatland.
"We've seen the replay, and it was definitely violent on Lawrence. I think Grewcock's a bit of a loose cannon at the moment."
