Semi-Final Preview: Wasps v Leicester Tigers

Semi-Final Preview: Wasps v Leicester Tigers

Ricoh Arena becomes the twelfth different venue to host an Aviva Premiership Rugby semi-final encounter.

Wasps only defeat in the last seven rounds of Premiership Rugby was 13-32 at Harlequins on 28 April. Wasps were the only side with a 100 per cent winning record at home during the regular season, only failing to pick up maximum points twice – against Exeter in round 1 and Leicester in round 13.

Wasps have not been defeated at the Ricoh Arena in Premiership Rugby since Saracens were the visitors on 27 December 2015.

Wasps have lost their last four semi-final appearances in all tournaments but in Premiership Rugby they have played in six previous semi-final fixtures winning four and losing two.

Leicester Tigers only defeat in their last seven first team matches was 21-27 to Bath at Twickenham on 8 April.

This is Leicester’s twelfth successive appearance in the semi-finals, winning the first eight but losing the last three.

Wasps have won their last three fixtures against Leicester whilst the Tigers have visited Ricoh Arena on three previous occasions, winning once on their first visit in May 2015.

The two clubs have met in five previous semi-finals in all competitions, but never in Premiership Rugby, with Wasps having the edge by three wins to two.

Ricoh Arena, 5.15pm – Live on BT Sport

Referee: Matthew Carley (60th Premiership game).
