Wyles to lead USA at World Cup

Saracens winger Chris Wyles will captain the USA at the Rugby World Cup off the back of a superb Aviva Premiership Rugby season.

Wyles amassed 13 league tries last season in a campaign that saw him become one of the most prolific players in the competition and he will be hoping to display his eye for the line again when the World Cup kicks off.

Joining him in the USA squad is Saracens teammate and second row Hayden Smith, who returned to the club from a stint in the NFL last year.

Winger Blaine Scully, who spent two years at Leicester Tigers before leaving for Cardiff Blues this summer, is named vice-captain.

Former Northampton Saints back row duo Samu Manoa and Cam Dolan are also included in head coach Mike Tolkin’s 31-man squad.

And a pair of Aviva Premiership Rugby props have made the cut – Eric Fry of Newcastle Falcons and Saracens youngster Titi Lamositele.

The USA kick off their campaign against Samoa on September 20 before facing Scotland, South Africa and Japan in Pool B
