Worcester Warriors Team News – Dowsett set for debut against Bristol

mdowsett-worcs-0111

New signing Michael Dowsett will make his Warriors debut against Bristol Rugby this Friday night in the Anglo-Welsh Cup at Sixways (kick-off 7.45pm).

The Australian-born scrum-half is straight into the side after joining the Club earlier this week and links up with Jamie Shillcock in the half-back combination.

Chris Pennell captains the side from full-back with winger Josh Adams also in the starting line-up after signing a first-team deal yesterday.

Academy hooker Jack Singleton is handed his first Warriors start in the front row alongside the more experienced Samoan pair of Na’ama Leleimalefaga and James Johnston, while Dewald Potgieter makes his first start of the season at blindside flanker.

In the replacements, Niall Annett could be set for his 50th Club appearance while Academy duo Justin Clegg and Afeafe Haisila Lokotui will make their debuts should they feature from the bench.

Defence Coach Simon Cross, who is overseeing the Warriors side during their Anglo-Welsh Cup campaign, said: “This competition affords us the opportunity to see how well our younger players can manage the physicality and intensity of first-team rugby.

“We have all been delighted to see the likes of Shillcock, Adams and Perry Humphreys coming through this season and this competition will help to unveil more players who will follow in their footsteps.

“We want to do well in this competition and I am confident this young group can go out and get the positive result we are looking for.”
